Default New ISP for WoW addict

Hello all,

I am looking for a new ISP and the dominant deciding factor is how well it handles WoW, you know the usual stuff, stability, low ping etc. Of course I want it to provide all the other cool things that can be done on the interweb as well have a healthy cap to cover such things as downloading things that definitely do not contravene IP laws. No, that would be very wrong.

There are a few limiting factors.
  • No AAPT, just shared an account with former flatmates and was less than happy with the service provided.
  • Internode is not a goer. I tried them first and, after waiting 2 weeks for them to provision the service they got back to me and said they were having trouble. When I mentioned that the line they were trying to connect to was an Optus one they said that it was not possible for them to connect to it. They forgot to apologise for wasting my time for the last couple of weeks but I'm sure they meant to.
I was thinking about Exetel Naked ADSL2+ here but I have been reading some horror stories about stability and customer service that leaves something to be desired. And by "something" I mean "the bare minimum of civility and service".

So Forum goers, what do you recommend?

Go with one that offers dial-up only. That'll help cure the WOW addiction. Talk about killing two birds with one stone!

when you say it's an "optus one" do you mean you already have an existing optus ADSL account on it or you have an optus phoneline? If it's the latter that shouldn't have been a problem but if it's the former then they can't create a new connection on it- you need to do a churn to change ISP's.

There's no ADSL account it's just a phone line. I spoke to Internode and they said that they were not receiving a dial tone when they contacted the number and were in fact told that it was not connected. I could call into and out of the number so I new that that was wrong. I contacted Internode and was told that their equipment was not compatible with Optus lines going into the house. They added if there was an old additional Telstra Copper line going into the house they might, at additional charge be able to set up a second line to provision a service.

Whether that's a load of poo or not I don't know, I only know what they told me.

And TPG is not a goer either as one of the first things the online start up stipulates is that the line to be provisioned be part of the Telstra network....

So you've basically knocked out any of the decent ISPs. How about Optus? You might get some deal seeing as you have a phone acc. with them.

Probably cause u are chasing the resold telstra service,

Just move your line over. Telstra pricing isn't that bad for a home phone.
